in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. II Timothy 2:25-26 NKJV

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,  I Timothy 4:1-2

And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many,  Matthew 24:4-5

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.  James 3:13-16

Discussion questions:

Pastor Kenny said that Satan is conniving to deliberately get us off course through deception. What are some areas in which Christians who are striving to live Holy lives can be the most vulnerable?

Pastor Kenny reminded us that the deceiving spirit’s goal is to control. How might we be able to apply the following to this in our lives?

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (Italics are mine.) II Corinthians 10:4-5

What wisdom are you following? Is it Godly Wisdom or “This Wisdom?” (See James 3:13-16, above)
